2011 was definitely the year of the Black woman…The W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Group Inc. has chosen to honor 3 very phenomenal women, Sis. Cynthia McKinney, Sis. Judge Louise Linzy & Sis. Nancy Lockhart, as the co-recipients of the 2011 W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Artivists Of The Year Award. Living legend elders Sis. Dr. Frances Cress Welsing & Bro. Dick Gregory both received W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Lifetime Artivist Achievement Awards for their brilliant life’s work in the upliftment and empowerment of hue-manity. According to W.E. A.L.L. B.E., “an artivist” is a person who uses his/her talents to advocate for and create effective and progressive change in his/her community in particular and in the greater society in general. They are humanitarians who possess a creative and proactive vision for the world. Although they may come from different walk s of life, it is their love to serve others that is the tie that binds and makes them a truly unique group of people.
2011 W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Artivist Of The Year: The Honorable Sis. Cynthia McKinney
“We celebrate black faces in high places…Now if those black faces do nothing with those high places why do we celebrate?”~The Honorable Sis. Cynthia McKinney
A prophet or prophetess is always without honor in his/her hometown and country…Sis. Cynthia McKinney is definitely no exception to that rule…
Thank God Sis. Cynthia McKinney has never been one of those types of Black Faces In High Places…A true freedom fighter and truth seeker in every sense of the term at home and abroad, Sis. Cynthia has rightfully earned a reputation for being a maverick for truth, justice and reconciliation…She is known as one of the first elected officials to call for an independent investigation into 9-11 (which subsequently cost the public servant her congressional seat and made her a favorite target of character assassination, scorn and ridicule by the corporate news machine controlled by the military-big business industrial complex), one of the few elected officials to bravely speak out against the invasion of Iraq and was the first woman nominated by the Green Party to run for the highest office in the land and “the free world”…She is currently gaining both the admiration of underdogs everywhere as well as the ire of the powers that be for her courageous fact finding tours during the Libyan conflict…
On April 6, 2011, the honorable Sis. Cynthia McKinney was a guest on The W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Radio where she shared with us her succinct geopolitical thoughts and analysis concerning the American Empire, the Japan earthquake disaster and fallout, and The Libyan Conflict…Sis. McKinney has on many occasions put her life in jeopardy for what she believes in whether it be getting her ship bombarded and rammed by the Israeli Navy while delivering supplies to maligned and marginalized Palestinians in the Gaza Strip or doing dangerous fact finding tours on the frontlines of the Libyan revolution all the while proclaiming in her own way that the emperor has no clothes and has been stark naked for some time now…Sis. Cynthia McKinney like any true political iconoclast, maverick and people’s advocate, now and before, knows all too well to quote the late great griot Gil Scott Heron that “home is where the hatred is”…And in spite of the fierce opposition at home and abroad Sis. Cynthia McKinney has always spoke her truth to power and to empower…Not only does she embodies what a true profiles in courage looks like but also what a true whole human being committed to serving others and justice looks like in word, deed and spirit …

2011 W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Artivist Of The Year: The Honorable Sis. Judge Louise Linzy
“This past election represents a movement, a new awakening for our people. We can participate in the governing of our own communities and schools. Black folk are breaking away from the ‘plantation mentality’ that has held us in bondage for so long. Things will never be the same in Tunica County.”~The Honorable Judge Louise Linzy
On Thursday Dec. 29, 2011, W.E. A.L.L. B.E. News and R2C2H2 Tha Artivist had the honor of witnessing history being made in living color before an overflowing crowd in the Tunica County Courthouse…After a disappointed and suspicious defeat to longtime incumbent Ellis Darby twice in 2007, Sis. Louise Linzy kept her eyes on the prize and finally claimed her victory…Linzy, who was the first Tunica, Ms woman police officer, achieved another seminal first when she officially became the first woman judge in Tunica County history when she was sworn in as Justice Court Judge for the Southern District…Tunica County is the richest county in Mississippi and home to one of the top 3 largest casino operations in the country…With that said the county is nearly 80% Black but for years the majority lacked proper representation in local government…With that said this past election cycle has been a historic one with not only the election of Judge Linzy but also the fact that this election saw a majority of African Americans with the exception of one position be chosen in key and influential positions to properly represent and reflect the majority of the county and thus the will of the people…This was a true throwback to the Reconstruction era and before the infamous Mississippi State Constitution of 1890 which disenfranchised the Black vote for decades…This election also saw the election of Steve Chandler to Tunica County School Superintendent….The former Memphis City Schools Principal at the age of 26 became the youngest person ever elected to that position in Mississippi history…Longtime school guidance counselor Rechelle R. Siggers became the first Black woman to be Chancery Court Clerk of Tunica County. Sis. Judge Louise Linzy coined these historic firsts “The Tunica Trifecta of new leadership.”
W.E. A.L.L. B.E. News was disappointed to find out this story did not get picked up nationally…This proves that there is a need for outlets like W.E. A.L.L. B.E. to give you the news that you can actually use to inspire and empower you…It is important that these stories are not only captured for the moment but also for posterity…You should never be the invisible or marginalized character in the telling of your own story…
Sis. Judge Louise Linzy truly embodies the motto, “a setback is a setup for a comeback!”

2011 W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Artivist Of The Year: The Honorable Sis. Nancy Lockhart
"I will continue to address those issues affecting poor people, and
minorities. Justice is expensive – I am an advocate for lowering the bar
on mass incarceration and raising the bar on legal education in our
communities. With the appropriate education, negative statistics
decrease."~The Honorable Sis. Nancy Lockhart
When your folks in jail and they can’t make bail...Who ya gonna call???
Sis. Nancy Lockhart of course!!!
This unsung shero of the Free Scott Sisters Campaign is now getting her due and after many years of paying dues...Sis. Nancy Lockhart is a non-attorney legal analyst specializing in wrongful convictions and issues of grave injustices. It was Sis. Lockhart in 2004, who read the letter meant for the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. while working at Push-Rainbow Coalition in Chicago from Sis. Evelyn Rasco, who answered the pleas of a distraught but determined mother whose family had been destroyed and railroaded by the just us system: Jamie & Gladys Scott, 2 sisters and young mothers without prior criminal records each given double life sentence for an $11 armed robbery that they did not commit…Before the NAACP or any other organization got involved and grabbed the headlines it was the sheer willpower, resourcefulness and strategic genius of a quiet and unassuming southern woman from South Carolina while operating on a non-existent budget (forget shoestring that would make it hood rich) who engineered one of the most successful social justice campaigns in recent memory…Using the internet as leverage, she went on an information blitz to get the word out about the Scott Sisters’ plight. She created an exhaustive network of activists and advocates, online and off, by utilizing social media outlets such as Facebook and podcast service BlogTalk Radio…What made her feats of getting the Scott Sisters out even more amazing was the fact that she never met Ms. Rasco, the Scott Sisters or spent one day of her entire life in Mississippi: she amazingly micro-managed the case from her South Carolina home.
In 2011 she didn’t stop, Sis. Lockhart was also instrumental in helping Bobby Yates of Paris, Tx in another case that seemed too bizarre to be true…Bobby Yates is a lower body amputee who was facing charges of sexual assault on a minor. Making the case even more absurd was the fact that Yates has no sexual desires, having had a penectomy (removal of the penis), as well. Without any true legal representation (his lawyer was ‘forced out’ at the last minute) and with a very questionable jury (the jury pool consisted of the district attorneys father, the city attorney, police officers wife, and a number of other people of concern), Sis. Nancy with the help of a small dedicated group of supporters was able to raise enough critical awareness through the internet and alternative media to garner Yates both regional and national grassroots support that gave him the alternative of taking a plea deal of no contest to picking up a knife when he was being assaulted. According to the plea deal, Bobby Yates doesn't have to pay any money, report to any probation and he's eligible for dismissal and his record expunged after a year. Bobby also was told that his Section 8 housing would remain secure. According to Lockhart “it’s as close to not being convicted as one can get without being convicted.”
2011 also saw the publication of Sis. Nancy’s book, Locked Up: What To Do When Your AZZ Get's Locked Up, which is quickly becoming a Ghetto cult classic and essential urban resource/guide in 21st Century Prison Industry Complex survival…You can order your copy today at http://www.nancylockhart.blogspot.com/

W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Artivist Lifetime Achievement Awardee: Sis. Dr. Frances Cress Welsing
Tha Artivist Says: Dr. Frances Cress Welsing's Magnum Opus The Isis Papers ranks with David Walker's "The Appeal", Dr. Woodson's "The Mis-education Of The Negro", DuBois' "Souls Of Black Folks", Fanon's "Black Skin/White Masks", Dr. Van Sertima's "They Came Before Columbus", Dr. Newton's "Revolutionary Suicide", Malcolm's "Autobiography" and anything J.A. Rogers as must read literature concerning the Black experience within the confines of global white supremacy...Whether you agree or disagree with her viewpoints, Dr. Welsing's provocative masterwork helps to get the dialogue about racism/white supremacy, its analysis and its elimination moving in the right direction...
BIOGRAPHY
Frances Cress Welsing (born March 18, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois) is an African American psychiatrist practicing in Washington, D.C.. She is noted for her "Cress Theory of Color Confrontation", which explores the practice of white supremacy. She is the author of The Isis Papers; The Keys to the Colors (1991).
Cress Welsing states that a system is practiced by the global white minority, on both conscious and unconscious levels, to ensure their genetic survival by any means necessary. According to Cress Welsing, this system attacks people of color, particularly people of African descent, in the nine major areas of people's activity: economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex and war. Cress Welsing believes that it is imperative that people of color, especially people of African descent, understand how the system of white supremacy works in order to dismantle it and bring true justice to planet Earth.
In The Isis Papers she postulates the melanin theory, a hypothesis that white people are the genetically defective descendants of albino mutants. She posits that because of this defective mutation, they may have been forcibly expelled from Africa, among other possibilities. Welsing proposes that, because it is so easy for pure whiteness to be genetically lost during interracial breeding, light-skinned peoples developed an aggressive colonial urge and their societies dominated others militarily in order to preserve this light-skinned purity. Welsing ascribes certain inherent and behavioral differences between black and white people to a "melanin deficiency" in white people. Welsing proposes what she calls a "functional definition of racism":
Functional Definition Of Racism = White Supremacy = Apartheid: As a black behavioral scientist and practicing psychiatrist, my own functional definition of racism (white supremacy) is as follows: "Racism (white supremacy) is the local and global power system and dynamic, structured and maintained by persons who classify themselves as white, whether consciously or subconsciously determined; which consists of patterns of perception, logic, symbol formation, thought, speech, action, and emotional response, as conducted, simultaneously in all areas of people activity (economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, sex, and war); for the ultimate purpose of white genetic survival and to prevent white genetic annihilation on planet Earth - a planet upon which the vast and overwhelming majority of people are classified as nonwhite (black, brown, red and yellow) by white skinned people, and all of the nonwhite people are genetically dominant (in terms of skin coloration) compared to the genetic recessive white skin people."
According to Dr.Welsing various cultural practices express white people's sense of their own inferiority:
According to Dr.Welsing various cultural practices express white people's sense of their own inferiority:
On both St. Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, the white male gives gifts of chocolate candy with nuts…. If his sweetheart ingests "chocolate with nuts," the white male can fantasize that he is genetically equal to the Black male…. Is it not also curious that when white males are young and vigorous, they attempt to master the large brown balls, but as they become older and wiser, they psychologically resign themselves to their inability to master the large brown balls? Their focus then shifts masochistically to hitting the tiny white golf balls in disgust and resignation — in full final realization of white genetic recessiveness.
Dr. Cress Welsing has been criticized for stating that black male homosexuality is consciously imposed on the black man by the white man to destroy the black family, that black homosexuality is a sign of weakness and that homosexual patterns of behavior are simply expressions of black male self-submission to other males in the area of sex, as well as in other areas such as economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, and war.

W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Artivist Lifetime Achievement Awardee: Bro. Dick Gregory
Tha Artivist Says: As an Activist, Comedic Genius & Hue-manitarian, Bro. Dick Gregory is beyond category…Where others as half as accomplished he are inclined to rest on their laurels (read a$$e$) Bro. Dick keeps going and going like the energizer bunny…He has on his own terms become a rarefied Elder Statesman on the hue-man condition with few peers save a Harry Belafonte, Nelson Mandela or Maya Angelou…W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Radio was blessed to have him on for 3 magical shows in 2011, three of our highest rated shows of all time…His first appearance on our program on 2/9/2011 was actually our biggest live audience to date…
About Bro. Dick Gregory
During the golden era of skinny-tie comedians, Dick Gregory was one of the biggest: a $12,000-a-week headliner on par with with Mort Sahl, Lenny Bruce and Woody Allen. Mr. Gregory influenced Bill Cosby, who inherited his stage presence, as well as Richard Pryor, who expressed biting racial candor.
Mr. Gregory was a headliner in Las Vegas when the casinos were still largely segregated, played all the hot clubs in New York and San Francisco, published a best-selling 1964 autobiography, titled "Nigger," and became the first black guest invited to the sofa on Jack Paar's show, where he startled audiences by mixing obligatory family jokes with sharp political humor.
Mr. Gregory was, in his words, "the first flatfooter" -- no dancing, no shuffling -- to play white clubs, a break with the singing and dancing routines of his black predecessors. Wearing a white shirt and three-button Brooks Brothers suit, he balanced himself on a stool and talked in rolling sentences, punctuating his routine with long pauses as he slowly dragged on his cigarette.
But while he talked politics, Mr. Gregory wasn't a political comic. If anything, he had an antipolitical genius for personalizing, and then disarming, relations between races:
"Down South they don't care how close I am as long as I don't get too big, and up North they don't care how big I am as long as I don't get too close."
"Don't just sit there and heckle me. Pay your check, burn your cross, and leave."
During the civil rights era, Mr. Gregory was friends with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers and Malcolm X, delivered food to N.A.A.C.P. offices in the South, marched in Selma, Ala., and was threatened many times and arrested more than once. In 1968, Mr. Gregory ran for president, after an unsuccessful bid to be mayor of Chicago. His candidacy was a stunt, but it was not a joke: on Election Day he received about 47,000 votes.
In the years after, he hit the health-food speaking circuit, pushing a raw food diet and something he called the Bahamian Diet Nutritional Drink; wrote alternative-history books; tried to intervene in the Iranian hostage crisis; and enjoyed an odd revival with his public campaign to help Walter Hudson, a 1,200-pound man, lose weight.
When not in Washington, where he has an apartment, or at his home in Plymouth, Mass., where he lives with Lily, his wife of 50 years, he is on the road doing around 200 shows a year. -- Bruce Headlam (New York Times)
