Professor James H. Cone is the Charles A. Briggs Distinguished Professor of Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary. Dr. Cone is an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He is the author of eleven books and over 150 articles and has lectured at more than 1,000 universities and community organizations throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Dr. Cone is best known for his ground breaking works, BLACK THEOLOGY & BLACK POWER (1969) and A BLACK THEOLOGY OF LIBERATION (1970); he is also the author of the highly acclaimed GOD OF THE OPPRESSED (1975), and of MARTIN & MALCOLM & AMERICA: A DREAM OR A NIGHTMARE? (1991); all of which have been translated into nine languages. His most recent publication is RISKS OF FAITH (1999). His research and teaching are in Christian theology, with special attention to black theology and the theologies of Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as well as twentieth century European-American theologies. Dr. Cone has also written on faith and music in THE SPIRITUAL AND THE BLUES: AN INTERPRETATION. His current research focuses on THE CROSS AND THE LYNCHING TREE, exploring the relationship between the two theologically.

About Brotha's Keepa:
Harder than any fictional gangsta rap, spoken word artists Brotha’s Keepa confronts its listeners with the unvarnished truths about being black in America today. J’malo Torriel and Ed Brittenum are the Memphis, Tennessee duo that make up Brotha’s Keepa, a group dedicated to the enlightenment of Black people, especially young Black men.
Audiences of all ages have been mesmerized by the theatrical and spoken word teachings of Ed and J’malo. Recognized by Clear Channel Memphis as K97 Peace Achievers of the Month for December 2005, this dynamic duo has traveled the nation attempting to spark minds to partake of positivity while taking the art of entertainment back to its consciousness roots. In September 2005, they opened for The Last Poets in Memphis and in October 2005 collaborated by writing and performing spoken word for Ballet Memphis in a concert linking words to movement. the situation as if it's been resolved. So goes the same for our
Afrikan brothers and sisters who survived or were murdered during Hurricane
Katrina. Today - in 2008 - they are still struggling....and the world
has forgotten. We should never forget.

Dr. Obery M. Hendricks, Jr. is among the most radical and innovative biblical scholars in America. The Dictionary of Biblical Interpretation calls his work "the boldest post-colonial writing ever seen in Western biblical studies." His study, "The Problem with Gospel Music Today," has been anthologized as one of "the greatest writings on the music of the African American church in the last century."
"[E]ssential reading for Americans” is what Jon Meacham, the managing editor of Newsweek, wrote in The Washington Post about Hendricks’ latest book, The Politics of Jesus. Social critic Michael Eric Dyson calls it "an instant classic" that "immediately thrusts Hendricks into the front ranks of American religious thinkers." His novel, Living Water, was chosen as Best Christian Fiction of 2003 by Black Issues Book Review.
A widely sought speaker, lecturer, and media commentator, Hendricks is a featured writer for Faithfuldemocrats.com and Godspolitics.com. He is a member of the Faith Advisory Council for the Democratic National Committee and an Ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
A former Wall Street investment executive and past president of Payne Theological Seminary, the oldest African American theological seminary in the United States, Hendricks is currently Professor of Biblical Interpretation at New York Theological Seminary. He holds the Master of Divinity with academic honors from Princeton Theological Seminary and both the M.A. and Ph.D. in Religions of Late Antiquity from Princeton University. He is a principal commentator in The Oxford Annotated Bible, one of the most widely used academic study Bibles in the English-speaking world, and a contributing editor to The Encyclopedia of Politics and Religion.

Hey Ron,
Thanks for sending me the PM. I'm going to be in and out today (got to do my weekly Bally's workout) but I'm going to try to get back in time to listen to your show because I have STRONG opinions about Rev. Wright and Barack Obama (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/660969/reverend_dr_jeremiah_a_wright_jr_racist.html). Either way, if I miss it, I'm going to check it out! Churches are the one place where African Americans were always able to speak candidly (until some jokers burned them down!), and I'm really irritated with these folks calling Rev. Wright racist.
