Actor Morgan Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee, his wife of 24 years, are divorcing, Bill Luckett, Freeman's lawyer and business partner, said Wednesday.

There is a "divorce action impending," Luckett said. He refused to give details.

Freeman, 71, and Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis were injured Sunday night when the 1997 Nissan Maxima Freeman was driving veered out of control, flipped several times and landed in a ditch on Miss. 32 near Charleston, Miss., where Freeman lives.

Freeman was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis in serious condition. He suffered a broken arm and other injuries and underwent surgery Monday night to reconnect nerves and repair damage to his left arm and hand.

Freeman and Meyer are "mutual friends," said Luckett, an owner with Freeman of the Ground Zero Blues Clubs in Memphis and Clarksdale.

Meyer, a FedEx employee, was at the May 25 grand opening of the Memphis Ground Zero, said Luckett, who described her as a good supporter of the Ground Zero blues clubs.

"She's got a lot of friends. She brings groups. She's just a wonderful lady. There's no juice there. There ain't any juice."

And, he added, "She has not worked at any time for Ground Zero."

As to Freeman's condition, Luckett said, "He's better."
