Oscar Grant, Sean Bell, Adolph Grimes, Jena 6 & Others Aren’t The Precedent…The murder of Emmett Till by racial hatred and his de facto lynching at the hands of The State is the true Shame of a Nation…It galvanized Rosa, Martin and so many others, known and unknown, into action…It truly stirred the conscience of the Sleeping Giant known as Black America into confrontation with its past, pro-active engagement in its present with the outcome being a hopeful outlook for its future and survival…

Although the boy known as Emmett Louis Till died a little over 53 years ago his Spirit grows & lives…But yet like Attorney General Eric Holder (whose sister in law was the late Vivian Juanita Malone Jones who helped to integrate the University of Alabama) now (in)famously stated several weeks ago we are truly “A Nation Of Cowards” if we don’t confront the Emmett Till legacy head on and with substantive solutions and results…

Our young Black men are dying a slow mental, physical and spiritual death…Our states on the whole spend more money to incarcerate rather to educate and our Black men are some of the largest targets for The State’s Aggressions & Abuses...Our Black communities are suffering from lack of Knowledge & Preparation...Our children are barley graduating as well as graduating with the skills needed to compete in their emaciated neighborhoods let alone globally…The goal this time is not to save one child , but rather how do we save a generation from fallen into malaise and disarray??? How can we stimulate a dying economy if we don’t stimulate the minds of some of our best and brightest???

According To Bro. Devery here are the book’s details:
It is tentatively titled, The Boy Who Never Died: The Saga of the Emmett Till Murder, and promises to painstakingly researched, based on hundreds of hours of archival research, and interviews with those who were witnessed the case unfold, including Emmett Till’s family members who were with him in Mississippi. It will bring the case up to the present.

2.) Dr. Linda Royster Beito

Bio From Wikipedia

Dr. Linda Royster Beito is chair of the department of social sciences at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Beito was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She earned her Ph.D. in political science and her master of science in criminal justice from the University of Alabama.

She was assistant professor of political science and criminal justice at the University of South Alabama from 1996 to 1999. Since 1999, she has taught at Stillman College where she has received several awards for excellence in teaching. She was also inducted into the Zeta Phi Beta Hall of Fame at Stillman College. Her daughter is April Hart Hardy and her son in law is Keith.

She married David T. Beito on June 11, 1997 and they live in Northport, Alabama.
Her second book (co-authored by Professor David T. Beito of the University of Alabama), Black Maverick: T.R.M. Howard's Fight for Civil Rights and Economic Power," will appear in 2009. It is a biography of civil rights leader T.R.M. Howard.

3.) *W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Radio Exclusive* I-Witness History: Interview With Dr. Hugh Stephen Whitaker Part One of Two

Dr. Hugh Stephen Whitaker was born in 1939 in Charleston, MS (near Sumner, the site of the Emmett Till murder trial). His stepfather, N.Z. Troutt, was chief of police in Charleston in 1955, and he was appointed as deputy sheriff for the duration of the trial. For his Master’s thesis, submitted to Florida State University in 1963, he wrote “A Case Study in Southern Justice: The Emmett Till Case,” the first book length study of the Emmett Till murder, and the only such source for another twenty-seven years. Whitaker’s thesis is the only one to reference the original trial transcript, in addition to first-hand interviews with many of the trial participants (the sheriff, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and all of the jurors).

Two years after receiving his Master's degree, he wrote his doctoral
dissertation, “A New Day: The Effects of Negro Enfranchisement in Selected Mississippi Counties” (all of which were in the Mississippi Delta), also submitted to Florida State University. He taught at Temple University, the University of Southern California, and Florida State University. Formerly married to Aide Steele of Tutwiler, he has two daughters, Linda and Heather, and two grandchildren. He is happily married to Penny Young since 2005.
