Miss. Deputy Medical Examiner Signs Off On Frederick Jermaine Carter’s First Official Autopsy Results…Apologizes For Delay & Offers Condolences To The Family


Around 3:53pm U.S. Central time today, W.E. A.L.L. B.E News spoke with Dr. Adel Shaker, the Deputy Medical Examiner for the state of Mississippi. In an exclusive interview with W.E. A.L.L. B.E. News, Dr. Shaker has revealed that he signed off on the official first autopsy results on Frederick Jermaine Carter today. The medical examiner’s office will be mailing them to Brenda Carter-Evans, the mother of Frederick Jermaine Carter, and family Monday morning.  As you may recall Frederick Jermaine Carter was found hanging in a tree in Greenwood, MS, in an exclusive upper middle class white neighborhood not known to be very friendly to African Americans.  

Dr. Shaker has been receiving calls of inquiry from the public and several people involved in Mississippi politics including those from representatives of the Governor’s and Mississippi Senate offices respectively. Unlike W.E. A.L.L. B.E.'s experience with the Leflore County Coroner’s Office, Dr. Shaker was polite, patient and cordial. Dr. Shaker also acknowledged that he received a letter of inquiry from Brenda Carter-Evans as well. 

Dr. Shaker said that he personally performed the autopsy for Frederick Jermaine Carter and that he has only been the medical examiner for the state of Mississippi for 5 months.  He also confirmed that although it usually takes 8-12 weeks for autopsy results to be made public that the reason why he couldn’t do it within that time frame is because he has numerous cases still needed to be closed from November of last year. As a matter of fact in an effort usually requiring the work of 9 people, Dr. Shaker is currently woefully understaffed and is working 18 hour work days to catch up.

Dr. Shaker sincerely apologized for the lateness of the results and offered his sincere and deep  condolences to the mother and family of Frederick Jermaine Carter.  Dr. Shaker who was born in Africa (his father is Eqyptian & his mother is Kenyan) considers himself an African American and is very much proud of his African heritage.  He also considers Mississippi as his home. Dr. Shaker seems to be held in high esteem by his peers and  has impressive medical credentials including investigating the death of famed British photojournalist Julie Ward in a Kenya Game Park and doing extensive forensic work for the United States government on the mass graves created by the Saddam Hussein Regime in Iraq.
